Samdech Techo Hun Sen Calls for Legal Action Against Ly Samet Following Apology Video

Phnom Penh, Cambodia – In a firm response to a recent apology video released by Mr. Ly Samet, also known as Kruma, Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen has stressed that the authorities, including the police and military police, must bring Ly Samet to court to face legal proceedings.

Ly Samet's video, which surfaced on the morning of November 4, featured him apologizing to Samdech Techo and acknowledging his guilt in relation to ongoing legal issues. However, Senate President Hun Sen made it clear that this confession would not lead to leniency. "Ly Samet is not being released because of his video in which he asked for an apology, confessed his mistakes, and expressed regret." he stated in a social media post.

The Senate President also highlighted the continued detention of Mr. Duong Dara, his personal assistant, who is currently facing trial for his involvement in fraudulent activities alongside Ly Samet. As the situation unfolds, Samdech Techo noted that after evading authorities, Ly Samet has now presented himself and is expected to face legal action.

Regarding Ly Samet’s request for a grace period to receive treatment at home before attending court, the Senate President firmly rejected this plea. “This cannot be done,” he said, urging the Judicial Police to proceed with the necessary legal protocols.

Hun Sen reiterated his position, emphasizing, “I hope that the authorities do not continue to allow Ly Samet to remain outside the law.”
